Two different profiles load at random

Hi

my Firefox has recently started to load two profiles at random. One is the old profile I've been using for months with all my bookmarks, etc, but the second is a new one with no bookmarks, etc. The selection of which one loads when I turn on my computer seems to be taken at random.

So: 1. what is causing this? 2. how do I stop it so that my old profile loads everytime?

I think that would only happen if the profiles.ini get swapped somehow or if you use a different Windows user account. In same cases Windows might switch to some temp user account in case issues are detected with the regular account. You can try to logout and login again or reboot the computer to see if that has effect.
