An image is silently replaced in a reply. The replacement image is highly confidential information and should not be sent out to anyone but the bank.

On rare occasion, an image in a mail, I believe only in signature of the sender, is replaced with an other image that is ours. This image has been used once before and was sensitive account information in our bank. It should under no circumstance be sent out to anyone other than our bank, and we have searched our entire computer to find this file/image or the mail so we can delete it. The problem itself that a signature picture is replaced upon answers, when we reply to a received mail is of course a problem that we would like a solution to.

But the main problem for us is that the image, always the same, that is replacement for the signature image, must be deleted so that it can never be sent out from our computer no more. I cannot find it, and I believe it might be somewhere stored in hidden files in our profile, draft or something like that?

So in general, the severity of this bug is not too high, but in our case it is critical if that information on that bank account image falls into the wrong hands. A workaround solution is appreciated, but to find that particular image is highly appreciated. With hitting the "reply" button and clicking the image, I track down this info under picture properties (translated from Norwegian):

Image that is correct: Picture address: mailbox:///C:/Users/***/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/llya44fk.default/Mail/cpanel25.proisp.no/Inbox?number=458260913&header=quotebody&part=1.2&filename=image001.jpg Alt address: cid:image001.jpg@01D0ACF0.A04F8980 If I click the image, the link to their site works properly.

Further down the same signature is incorrect: Picture address: mailbox:///C:/Users/***/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/llya44fk.default/Mail/cpanel25.proisp.no/Inbox?number=458260913&header=quotebody&part=1.4&filename=image004.png Alt address: cid:image002.jpg@01D08F06.A2971350 If I click the image, the link to their site works properly.

Hopefully someone can help us. Best regards Yngve B Lande

Odd issue. Did you get it resolved?

No, we did not get it resolved. Have searched a lot on google, and in these forums, only found that it might happen if automatic compacting while still editing a draft. Not sure, but we deleted all mail, drafts and such that was to the recipient that got that picture in the first place. Searched up that picture of bank details and deleted it everywhere. Not sure if it is still stored inside thunderbird somewhere though. We monitor our mails closely now, looking for inline images that are being replaced. Seems we cannot detect this before mail is sent, but only on reply from the ones we sent it to.
