My default search engine is Google, and every time I open Firefox, I get a page that tells me Firefox failed to find the server at www.Google.com. It's not a big deal--I just click on the 'try again' button, and I always get connected. But I find it amusing that Firefox can't find the server at Google.com ALL THE TIME...

hello kennethdjenkins, you might have set the old firefox default homepage from before firefox 4, which is no longer maintained by google. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > general and restore the homepage to about:home (that's the new firefox homepage used since firefox 4) or any other site of your choosing.

hello kennethdjenkins, you might have set the old firefox default homepage from before firefox 4, which is no longer maintained by google. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > general and restore the homepage to about:home (that's the new firefox homepage used since firefox 4) or any other site of your choosing.

Thanks for your help. Actually, I was just kinda making a joke. It only adds up to one extra keystroke...but I found it amusing that Firefox couldn't find the server farm for Google...Between Facebook and the NSA and Google, we must be talking about three of the largest server farms IN THE WORLD, and Firefox couldn't find it...anyway I will follow your procedure and hopefully I'll be able to save myself a keystroke...

Thanks cor-el for your suggestion. Actually, all I had to do was what phillipp suggested...I made Firefox my home page in preferences, and now Google search is my (working) default search engine...it's right there, under the Firefox icon.
