images don't load on Web sites such as imdb.com. The same images do load with Chrome or IE8. I've tried all the trouble shooting suggestions.

Images generally load on such sites as Google Images and on news sites such as CNN. They won't load on several other sites, including imdb.com, but those images and video will load on Chrome and IE8.

Go to Firefox button > Options > Options > Content (or Tool > Options > Content, if using the Menu Bar), be sure "Load images automatically" is checked, then click "Exceptions" to the right of that line. If any of the sites not loading images are on that list and show "Block", click on each one, then click "Remove site", and repeat for each site that is blocked that you want to see the images.

Then, open the web sites that are not showing images. Do the images now show? If not, click on the Site Identity Button (the colored button at the left end of the Location/URL bar), click on "More Information", a new window will open, click on the "Permissions" tab, for "Load images" be sure "Use default" is checked. Close that "Page Info" window with the Close (X) button in the upper right corner. Reload the page. Do the images show now?

Not related to your question, but...

You need to update some plug-ins:

Does not relate to your question, but...

You have multiple old Java Console extensions that Java did not clean-up during updates. You need Java Console only if you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages. You can see them in Add-ons > Extensions, but you can not remove them from there. Removing them will not affect the functioning of Java on websites. You can manually remove them, if you do not do Java development work to avoid future, possible problems/conflicts:

Thanks. I tried the load images automatically and it was already checked. There was one "exception", actually a permission, for mozilla. I manually added a permission for imdb (espn is another that won't load) and restarted the browser. There was no difference.

I'll update the extensions and delete Java Console.

Your response indicates that you read and tried the suggestions in the first paragraph of my reply.

Did you go to the second paragraph and try those steps? It is important that you read everything that I included in my reply.

I followed the instructions exactly. The permissions tab for "load images" was checked as "allow." I checked the "use default" box as per the image below. But when I closed that window and reloaded, the selection reverted to "allow". That was also the case when I closed and reopened Firefox. Is there a way to force the "use default" button to remain checked?

See:

Are those missing images grayed if you look in Tools > Page Info > Media ?

Did you check the value of the pref permissions.default.image on the about:config page?

I just restarted Firefox with all add-ons disabled and I was able to load images on imdb.com. I'm going to disable the add-ons sequentially and see if I can find which one is causing the problem. I'll post later. Thank you for all the suggestions.

They're grayed on the site (or a black box that won't load video). In Tools>Page Info>Media, all lines are black text; no lines are grayed out. I don't know where the "about.config" page is located.

I tried the one-at-a-time disabling of add-ons and accomplished nothing. I restarted Firefox each time rather than just reloading the page, and nothing changed.

As I mentioned in another post, the Permissions for load images is locked on the "allow" button. Checking the "use default" box doesn't work.

SafeBrowser made a suggestion of deleting a particular Java Console. I didn't have that specific Java Console in my folders but I did disable every Java Console and didn't accomplish anything.
