When I try to print anything like a receipt for my online bills or anything. As soon as I click print the Firefox Screen disappears and I get a Crash notice. I had to change my printer from being connected (wired) because the printer said it was not connected to my Ethernet. So now I have it set up as WiFi and it says it is connected. I followed my printers guides and it should be okay. I did try downloading the latest version of Firefox but it still would not let me print. I lose all of my Bookmarks & other things I had if I keep the new download. I don't want to redo all of my bill info or other things I have bookmarked. Why does Firefox crash?

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Thank you FredMcD, I went to the about:crashes like you instructed, but when I clicked on the submit, they were removed, so I could not copy or paste them. Not sure I really know how to do that for sure.

I have been able to get some things printed if I use the WiFi so maybe my problem is solved.

I will see how it does.

Thank you for telling me about the crash address bar.

That is odd. Try opening the crash page again.

Firefox did crash again, so I did open the crash page and only reports that had a bp in front of them were shown, they all had a view I could click on & showed all the data about the crashes. None of it made any sense to me. All of the unsubmitted crashes were gone.

Thank you for trying. I hope what ever the problem was it is fixed. If I can use my printer with the WiFi to print without the Firefox browser crashing then I will manage I guess.

Wish I knew why it happened and why my printer still tells me it is not connected to the ethernet. It is plugged in. But the WiFi is working so far. I just prefer to be wired instead of WiFi.

Thank you again.

Betty D.

Hi Betty, support volunteers might be able to learn something from the crash reports you viewed. Can you share either the long bp- numbers or the full URLs of the five most recent crash reports online?

Hi Betty, thank you for the reports.

There is some problem getting printer information from Windows. Since your other browser is also affected, could you try reinstalling the printer software, or check whether it has any known compatibility issues with the latest Windows 10 update?

I did run the HP Print & Scan Doctor for my printer which is how I was able to at least get the WiFi to work for the printer earlier this week (10/1/19). The printer was telling me I had no Ethernet connected to the printer. I know I do and it is working fine for my computer & modem.

I am not aware of any issues with compatibility with the latest windows update. But I think maybe right after the latest Windows update installed was about the time Firefox started crashing.

I don't have a disc to reinstall my printer, so I would have to see how it would need to be done. But I really hate to do it since I finally got it set up with WiFi. I don't really want it set up with WiFi but at least it was working.

Also Firefox did work after I got the WiFi for the printer set up but only for a little while.

My printer is less than a year old. My computer is about 3 years old.

I also did some sort of compatibility check not sure what it was but it said Firefox was not compatible. But that has never been an issue in the past.

Is there any other option besides reinstalling my printer software??

Will wait for your reply.

Thank you.

please try to run a windows update to receive the latest patch that should fix the recent printing issues/crashes: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4524147/windows-10-update-kb4524147

Hi philipp,

I have the latest update you mentioned. I will try the to access the help for that update. So far I can't figure out how to get the fix that is mentioned on my update page.

Thanks anyway. I wish I knew more about this stuff. It is confusing.

So what kinda of printer and router are you using here? Know what hardware and router would be the start here. I have HP 8450 and HP M277dw and both Ethernet connect to a NetGear Nighthawk N7500v2 and have no issues with Ethernet connections. You said when you go to print it crashes. From just that I think the problem is the router or the wire connection or Ethernet wire issue. And my 8450 has straight through Ethernet and the M277dw had BiDirectional Ethernet to the same router without issue. And my two laptops can't connect to both printer and print from them and scan from the M277dw. So I think you got more issues and it's translating to the Browser when you print. Also I would not use HP scan doctor that is worthless and probably not going to fix the problem. When I installed the HP software for the M277dw I only did the basic with error reporting software installed no diagnosis software. Those have never worked for me. And still through the M277 it can updates itself as it did once and I have had no issues with that. So I think it sounds more like you need a actual computer repair person to be there and finding where the real problem is coming from and it sounds like there is more then one thing that need live person to see what is going on.
