I recently had a crash on my computer running Ubuntu so i had to reinstall(Format/erase)...

In my new install, i logged in to firefox sync to get my bookmarks and history and other stuff but i haven't got anything...

why? I believe the sync is supposed to restore my data(browser data) back to me like i lost nothing and If this is not how it works then what is the point of the firefox sync?

Did you have any problem logging in to Sync after the reinstall? Did you request a new Sync password?

Any other devices running on that Sync account? If so, is your Firefox data on that other device?

1) No problem logging in.. i logged in fine

2) No. I did not request a new sync password

3) Yes my Android Phone(Which is not with me as the phone got damaged weeks ago)

4) The other device is not with me and i do not sync that much with it. I use my Ubuntu PC mostly. So sync works from my PC in most cases

Keep in mind that Sync isn't designed to be used as a backup device, but is meant to be used to sync data between other devices. It is not guaranteed that you can restore data from the Sync server in case of problems with your OS or because you otherwise lost data. Best is always to backup your personal data locally to be sure to be able to recover from issues.
