Since last night the Yahoo toolbar keeps disappearing when I close FF and have to reinstall every time I want to use Yahoo. Is there a way to keep it permanently as a fixed toolbar?

Followup: The Yahoo toolbar add-on has been updated. The latest version fixes the problem. If you have set the xpinstall.signatures.required preference to false in the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page) as a workaround, you can go back now and reset the preference to true.

Hi yekish, Likely you are also running into an issue that we are still investigating a long term solution for. At the moment the signed version of the Yahoo toolbar is still not being detected as signed. There is a temporary work around, however it also will allow other unsigned add ons, which may be less secure.

  1. Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
  2. Confirm you will be careful if the prompt appears.
  3. Search for xpinstall.signatures.required.
  4. Double-click the preference to set it to false.

Thank you for your suggestions. At this moment, I am afraid to try anything with installing the Yahoo Toolbar. I've tried several times to load the toolbar in the last couple of days and FF took extremely long to open. I've refreshed FF several times for a faster response and am concerned that FF will freeze up again.

Thanks, Yekish
