Whenever I read the comments of a news article from Yahoo, FF 3.6 auto refreshes and takes me back to the beginning of the list, which is constantly being added to. This is particularly annoying when commenting, or replying to a comment, on an article because you not only lose where you were at, but also everything you were writing.

That is not Firefox doing that, but Yahoo that uses a script or a meta refresh to reload pages every few minutes.

You can try Refresh Blocker: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/992
