Sometimes Facebook works perfectly well for hours, then all of a sudden it drops out and won't reconnect and I keep getting the message as follows:

Secure Connection Failed

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I used to blame my poor internet connection for the dropouts, but I have switched over to a stable fast internet connection and it is still happening. Any ideas???

Chosen solution

This can possibly happen if the server is too busy to respond to all request.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

It is also possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing this problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
