Cannot open hyperlinks in messages
I have Windows 10 and i am running Google Chrome as my web browser. I have just started using Thunderbird and found that hyperlinks are disabled in incoming messages. I have tried running Thunderbird in safe mode and the problem remains. I have tried the following. 1. Ensured that Google Chrome is set as my default web browser. 2. Checked that no application is specified for the HTTP?HTTPS content type: I selected Tools > Options> Attachments panel. HTTP and HTTPS are not listed in the Content Type column 3. Used the Config Editor to check that network.protocol-handler.external-default is set as TRUE. 4. Uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome.
Any thoughts please?

This is not a Thunderbird issue. It is about your Chrome browser and getting Windows 10 to honour settings. But I can see why you thought it was Thunderbird, after all that is where the clickable link was located.
However, there are several reports on google saying that Windows 10 is a pain when it comes to setting a default browser. Just setting it via Settings default browser does not always work. So try this:
Control Panel > All control panel items > Default Programs > Set default Programs
select 'Google chrome' click on 'Set this program as default' click on 'Choose defaults for this program' all of the following need to be selected. Extensions:
- .htm
- .html
- .shtml
- .xht
- .xhtml
Protocols:
- FTP
- HTTP
- HTTPS
start Menu
- Internet link
