To export please try this: Bookmarks (Alt + B) > Show All Bookmarks and in the windows that opens click Import and Backup on the top and Export Bookmarks to HTML. To restore you would do the same except the last step would be Import Bookmarks from HTML.
You can also copy the latest json file in the bookmarkbackups folder in your Firefox Profile Folder and later restore it via Import and Backup > Restore > Choose File... or put it back in the same folder after reinstalling, starting and exiting Firefox and it'll appear on the top in the Restore menu.
To get back both bookmarks and history you have to backup the places.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and restore / overwrite it after reinstalling, starting and exiting Firefox.
