But now I am unclear on what to do once the data has been transferred to the new computer, the new computer does not have Thunderbird installed, do I need to install it on the new computer, and do something? or is there something that I need to open in the data that was saved and transferred to the new computer, that will install it with the saved data that I transferred? Can you please explain what I need to do to in easy to understand terms as I am a novice with computers, or point me to where I can find a step by step explanation of what I need to do...thankyou

If you have followed the instructions and the Thunderbird folder containing Profiles folder files have been correctly transfered on new computer in this location - same place they were on the old computer

C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\

Yes you need to have Thunderbird installed. Download from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all.html

run Thunderbird and it should pick up those folders and files.
