I've tried all the suggestions I can find for getting videos to load in youtube. I had no problem with this until about a week ago. Now, I can't pause videos to load so that I can play them. I have updated flash player, firefox, checked my plugins, and disabled video hardware acceleration. I tried in safe mode. All to no avail. What is going on here? I'm about to quit using this browser.

Did the problem start while you still had Firefox 19?

Does Flash work normally on other sites?

Do embedded YouTube videos play, such as the one here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/find-and-manage-downloaded-files

Are you enrolled in the HTML5 trial? http://www.youtube.com/html5

I assume you already tried the following, but just in case...

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove your google.com cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hi, thanks for the help. The embedded video link loads and plays just fine. I did clear the cache; I clear it frequently. I'll try again, using the advanced option, and also will try removing google cookies.

Hello, thanks, I tried safe mode yesterday, and also unchecked hardware acceleration. It didn't work.
