I have been using the picture in picture feature a lot but have noticed that the subtitles are never within the picture in picture window. I have searched all over and have found despite assurances that bbc.co.uk is one of the sites that allows this, I do not get this option and it's really difficult for me to watch the show with the subtitles in the original window. I have looked in my settings and can't see anything that would enable me to fix this. I have the latest version of firefox. I have three extensions: ublock, easy screenshot and swagbutton.

Can anyone help? I have uploaded a screenshot where you can see the picture in picture but the subtitles on the background window and not on the picture in picture window.

It is working for me on bbc.com, so I assume that it works on bbc.co.uk as well.

You can check the media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture on the about:config page.

EDIT: It could be a problem with the iPlayer website or does this fail for you as well with other BBC videos ?

Yes, it appears to be an iPlayer issue and not a firefox one as I just found a random video on BBC and that worked fine. I don't know why I didn't try that last night. Thank you - it seems iPlayer has caused problems with this thing for a long while judging from other help threads.

This is likely because the iPlayer uses a different configuration for the closed caption. You can use the Page Inspector to check this and compare what Fireofx expects on the regular BBC websites (bbc'.com and bbc.co.uk).

You can right-click an element and select "Inspect" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected (pause the player with a subtitle visible).

You can consider to file an enhancement bug request (Toolkit :: Picture-in-Picture) to fix the BBC iPlayer.
