The new version was installed and when I opened to it, in addition to all it threading when I never asked for it and the changes in the colors of unread inboxes, it is also reloading all my emails from all of my IMAP accunts. This is slowing it down. Why does it have to reload the emails?

were you asked to re enter your account information?

No, the account info was there for all accounts. But TBird didn't find my email folders on my C drive so downloaded them from the IMAP server. The accounts, folders and emails were all intact on my iPhone MAIL app, fortunately. But it took forever to download all the sub folders and their contents from the 18 different accounts. And as they downloaded, the new email beep kept beeping. Very annoying.

Similar problem with some differences.

  • POP3 rather than IMAP
  • Have used TB client for several years with no problem until last few weeks.
  • Only one account: "VERIZON.NET" on an AOL server.
  • Inbox in Local Folders because I used to have a second account
  • Size may be an issue, I leave mail on server for 90 days, has grown to over 4,600 messages.
  • Have no problems accessing post office through EDGE browser.
  • Will try reducing to 60 days to see if any change.
  • Inbox has 78 sub-folders and filters to sort on download.
  • Restart download will sometimes hang up on 1,001 messages but picks up where it left off when restarted.
