With the latest firefox updates, both firefox and thunderbird stop repsponding to inputs, not limited to scrolling. This happens over time as if there is a memory leak or too many threads sharing semiphors.

82.0 (64-bit) Arch Linux

This problem is 100% on Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

You posted with a Palemoon 68 build.

Are you only using Palemoon or also Firefox from the Mozilla server ?

If you have this issue with Palemoon then you need to contact Palemoon for support.

I deleted everything from ./.mozella and uninstalled and reinstalled firefox with pacman. I then had to bring it up clean, and rebooted the system. It would NOT be possible to click on anything, including options because mouse input dies. As for the palemoon question, it is not really of value to answer that. The problem is as I described with FIREFOX 82. And BTW - I don't appreciate this site logging my data and tracking me. Please REMOVE my personal data from the site except for my login and message.

It feels like all the semiphores are being used up. It feels like a starving scholar problem, which is a coding problem in the threading. It had over a 154 threads running with a single window. It is now, after the reinstall, down to 256 with 2 windows and three total tabs.

[ruben@flatbush ~]$ ps -eLf|grep firefox|wc -l 256

which still seems excessive.

It needs a bug report.

Have you rebooted the computer?

Do you know of any other way of clearing semiphores? I know of no other way of doing it. Even after killing firefox and restarting it is still not responding to mouse inputs responsively. It might take 10 minutes to repond to a mouse click or a scroll request. It will respond if I shake the browser in the X11 window.

443 threads and rising. This is out of control.

This thing is still fundamentally BROKEN. How do I make a bug report?
