When I open Firefox and sometimes during my browsing, Firefox is in the background connecting to some long subdomains of amazonaws.com. Why is that?

amazonaws is a web service - http://aws.amazon.com/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazonaws Many websites and companies us it for Storage & Content Delivery and for Databases storage and access.
