Thunderbird stopped receiving all rcn.com emails after update. All gmail and other server accounts work fine. All settings are unchanged after update: server - pop.erols.com port: 995 security: SSL authentication: normal password

I have another computer still running v68 (with those same settings) and it's receiving all rcn emails, so it is not a problem with the rcn server.

I ran the mail server through some SSL security tests. It failed dismally. Noting that TLS replaced SSL about 20 years ago.

I suggest you try with no connection encryption as the server does not support anything released in the century on port 995. Thunderbird stopped supporting TLS V1 a long time ago because it is broken. You are getting here now because your a year late upgrading so have been using easily breached connections for a year longer than you needed to.

Matt, thanks so much for your reply.

I went into the Config Editor per your link and temporarily set security.tls.version.min to 1 (default = 3) and that worked, so you're correct that the problem is RCN won't accept newer versions of TLS (I tried setting security.tls.version.min to 2, but that also didn't work).

I then went into account settings for my 2 RCN accounts and changed Security to "None" and unsecured password authentication (these changed the port setting to a new default of 110) and now i can receive from both accounts.

Thanks again.
