I am running Firefox 84.0 (64-bit) in Windows 10 Professional 2004. Saturday I received a pop-up window:

    firefox.exe - Application error
    The exception Breakpoint
    A breakpoint has been reached.
    (0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x00007FFAA7321425
    Click OK to terminate the program

Is there any way to determine what happened? Thanks.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

This was a one-time occurrence (so far in my Windows 10 lifetime). I assume that the problem was detected by Windows, not by Firefox. I just restarted Firefox in safe mode. What am I supposed to see? When the windows pop-up appeared over the weekend, I clicked OK to terminate Firefox (per the message), and I started Firefox.

What do I do if and when the next time the problem occurs? Do I take a dump of the Firefox processes before cancelling Firefox?

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

If you get a crash message from Firefox, send it in, then post it here.

Fred, as you might remember, I was ALWAYS running Firefox in safe mode when I was running Windows 7. In Windows 10, I have not seen the need to run in safe mode, and I have had few Firefox crashes, except on Exits. But those ended in early September when I installed 80.0.1.
