Help section advice does not correspond with my Thunderbird version
I checked with the support pages as I want to check what my password is for Thunderbird. I am using 52.9.1 The information/instructions on where to check the password information is incorrect, and of no use at all, it does not even nearly correspond to what appears on my Thunderbird homepage. The help page says: "Go to the Security panel, select the Passwords tab, and click Saved Passwords." My Security tab does not have a "passwords" tab at all. It only has information on Digital Signing and Encryption. So sadly, the help section on passwords is not helpful at all.

My best guess is you're looking at Account Settings, and not Preferences.
At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Preferences

Problem solved, thanks.
Since you use an operating system other than Windows you might want to review this page showing that the menus differ between operating systems. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows%2C_Linux%2C_and_Mac
