When my Thunderbird failed to function, I was advised to make a new account on my computer and download a new version of Thunderbird on to it, which I did, but my previous profiles folder somehow got deleted and I had no contacts. It was very difficult to manage two accounts as I found the new "person" could not use my programs under my account and I had to keep switching back. Searching my USB hard drive I use to back up my documents, I found a slightly older Profiles folder. As I only want one account on my computer I went back into that, deleted the defunct Thunderbird and installed the latest version for Windows 7. I carefully copied my profiles folder into where it should be through the C:\ drive - etc. etc. Opened my new Thunderbird and it now has two lots of profiles, so I deleted the new one, but it still won't work, there is nothing there. The new version is so different its hard to find my way round it.

What can i do about Thunderbird not reacting to my previous profile? Can I copy the contents of my old folder into the new folder created by Thunderbird?

I found the headings after a while. I am not so quick as youngsters who have grown up with computers and find their way round things so quickly :) I restored the deleted profiles folder from the recycled bin, so have the new and the old one in the profiles folder but would like some advice about copying the contents of the old file into the new one please.
