My preference is to use firefox because up until today it's been working perfectly fine. Today however I had to report 10 crashes in a row and they are all to do with Flash player or Breakpoint Exception. Please don't ask me to update flashplayer as I have had so many problems with Abobe Flash Player crashing my old graphics driver. So simply updating my flash player is completely out of the question. Also I want to know is "what has changed between yesturday and today?" How can Firefox be working perfectly fine and then all of a sudden be crashing so many times? Now I have three browsers on my Laptop and it isn't a choice but a necessity. Can you possibly not recommend anything that has to do with updating anything. My old laptop has been working perfectly fine without being upgraded all the time. If yu can't offer a solution (by the way I already followed all of the troubleshooting steps) just tell me one thing, why was it working perfectly fine yestuday and not today.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Please report back soon.

Hi Kate832

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.

I see that you have an old Flash 11_7_700_252 version.

Please update to the latest Flash version.

You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Not having any crashes, though, having lots of too-long freezes, and, like your Firefox browser, I hadn't changed anything within the last few days, and the browser just CRAWLS rendering it completely unnavigable. I barely ever use the plug-ins save for when I'm on Youtube and such.
