Over the past week, Firefox continuously crashes. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the program. I tried restarting the settings back to default mode. I opened Firefox in Safe Mode. All of these did not work. It crashes sometimes only a few seconds after opening and other times a few minutes after opening, but it hasn't been open for more than 5-7 minutes at one time without crashing in the last week.

I ran a crash report, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

Please also check if this happens in Windows Safe Mode with Networking.

Safe Mode

It does not appear to be happening when I'm in safe mode with networking as you indicated. Are there specific tasks to then follow in order to troubleshoot this?

Thank you for your help.

You could try to make adjustments in the security software (McAfee??, other antivirus, firewall etc.). Windows safe mode bypasses these and other third-party programs and drivers. Firefox requires a local loopback connection to itself, as well as outgoing connections on at least port 80 and 443. You can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see this.

AV/Firewalls Configuration

Also, if the OS network stack is corrupt, it could intermittently affect other internet software like Firefox. You can easily reset the network stack to its defaults, but any custom functionality inserted by the security software and other software may get lost/affected. The Windows OS forum would also be helpful.

A distant possibility could be process hijacking OS malware which may affect Firefox functionality, and also confuse the security software in that it isn't able to reliably recognize Firefox for giving appropriate permissions. If the security software provides logging, you could check the logs for hints.
