After upgrading to Firefox 4, I have a compatibility problem noted with the Angel Online Course Learning System. The message is that it does not support Firefox 4 and some functions may not work.

I teach online using the Angel CMS. After upgrading to Firefox 4.o, I get this message when logging into my Angel courses:

"You are using Firefox 4, which is newer than what we support. Some ANGEL functions (example: dropbox submissions) will not work correctly."

I'm not sure that this is truly a problem that will disturb the way Angel works, I get a similar message if I use Safari, an unsupported browser.

Just thought you might like to know. I'm guessing this is an Angel (BlackBoard) issue.

WebCT / Blackboard usually does their browser version compatibility fixes in the summer time, between the spring and fall terms, so that they aren't rolling out new versions during a school term.

Look under Supported Browsers for the version of Firefox that is supported for the version of Vista or Campus Edition your school uses. That information should be posted at the bottom of most Blackboard / WebCT pages. http://www2.blackboard.com/tuneup/viewpage?name=tuneup_browser_tuneup_windows_firefox

Does anyone know if Firefox provides security patches/upgrades to version 3.6? I'm just fearing that if I downgrade to the older version, that I will be running a browser with security vulnerabilities.

Firefox 3.6 is still supported, there was a security release a couple of weeks ago - version 3.6.16 - and another is slated for 4/19.
