(note: I have hundreds of bookmarks) I search the word "idea" in the location bark (with prefs set as searching for Bookmarks) and only SOME of the bookmarks with "idea" in the name come up. I type "ideas" and they all disappear, even though there IS one with the word "ideas". This happens even in Safe Mode.

Does it happen in new profile? Make is as described at Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles ; import the bookmarks into the new profile via the import/export to HTML feature in bookmarks - organize bookmarks window; change the Location bar search setting; check for the issue.

It does NOT happen in a new profile.

So now I have to reinstall all of my add-ons in the new profile. Is that correct? Or is there a way to copy the Plug-ins folder from one profile to the next (i.e. by going to the location in AppData)?

Thanks for your help, Gryllida

edit: by "It does NOT happen in a new profile" I mean "It works properly after creating a new profile." Thank you very much!

If it works in Safe mode then that would assume that one of the extensions is causing it. Did you bump any extensions to run in the 4.0 beta version?

From your posted extensions list Locationbar looks like a likely candidate.

No, it was still "messed up" in Safe Mode.

It was also "messed up" in BOTH 3.6 and 4.0b2.

And yes, I originally thought "Locationbar" was a "likely candidate" as you say, mainly due to its name. But after disabling it, and after it not working in Safe Mode, I ruled that out.

I believe it was a corrupt profile. After I took Gryllida's suggestion, I reinstalled new plugins (did NOT end up copying any AppData folders, as that'd be dumb), and it now works just fine.

So thank you both for your suggestions.
