Personally, when I want a link from another browser to open in Firefox, I just copy the URL and paste it into Firefox's address
bar ..... (a bit more work though).

That extension is interesting, but it requires me to open the page on Chrome before opening on Firefox.

What I want is to avoid opening the page on Chrome altogether. An extension that provided a context menu option like "Open on Firefox" would be better, but I couldn't find one.

Right now the quickest way I found to open links on Firefox was to click and drag the link from Chrome to Firefox, but that doens't always work or sometimes it makes me open the link on the current Firefox tab instead of a new one.

May I ask why you even use Chrome  ?

You can access Gmail, Calendar etc. using Firefox .....

If I were satisfied with copying and pasting I would not have bothered to post a question here, don't you agree?

I close and restart Firefox with a certain frequency, and when I do that I start a brand new session (no history, no cookies from previous sessions etc.). The other browser, in this case Chrome, I use to keep services that I use frequently, mostly Google services, and I rarely close it—I keep the same session for weeks or even months.

I know I can create exceptions on Firefox settings to keep some sites logged in etc., but what I want is to have a complete different browser for these services, and making it open links on my default browser, i.e., Firefox, would be perfect.

As you only mentioned 'drag and drop' I thought you wouldn't have tried 'my way' (sorry I asked .....)

If a Chrome extension can open the current page URL in Firefox, it should be able to open a link URL in Firefox before displaying the page in Chrome. Is that something the developers overlooked? Both of the top results refer to links or selected links. I don't whether that is right-click integration or something else:

Anyway, you might contact them to get right-click integration added.

Note that you can drop the link on the Firefox new tab plus button to open the link in a new tab.

Thanks for the answers, I'm going to check the Chrome extensions again if I decide that I will continue using Firefox—Firefox Quantum is driving me crazy, but this is another matter.

So what does your screenshot of your "default apps" look like? I know something is wrong as I set firefox as default in Windows 10 and it doesn't have issue switching to firefox as default opening browser. I think your Windows Update is messed up or corrupted that it doesn't recognize the user default changes.

I'm pretty sure browsers are an exception. For example, if you are using Firefox while Chrome is your default browser, Firefox will still handle all the links in web pages you view in Firefox itself; it won't send them to Chrome. Otherwise, it would be impossible use any non-default web browser.
