used maprepair and now 18K emails are gone
I had a problem as suddenly when I opened mails I could not read them. I then read the internet and decided to use the MAP REPAIR option in thunderbird. When I pushed map repair my mails went from 18000 to 435 (last 7 days or so) and all the rest is gone. My Local files inbox went to 35 GB , however mij main inbox which strangely enough is not show in thunderbird seperategly only as part of the Local folders is still there and much bigger

Do you mean you used Folder > Properties > Repair Folder ?
yes indeed . no clue what happened :-( found an old inox file and put it in the directory , deleted the msf but that also does not work as it wont rebuild de msf and this file shows empty even tough its 1,2 gB.
