I browse with cookies off. If it becomes necessary to accept a site cookie, I'll open up the preferences and put a check in the "Accept cookies from site" box. The problem is that the 3rd-party box changes from the greyed out "never" to "always". Before I can move my mouse quick enough, I've now got anywhere between 5-50 popups from Firefox requesting cookie permissions. There's no way to close the page without answering all of those first.

I'd like to know if there is a setting within Firefox (config?) that I can change to have the default remain at "never" for 3rd party cookies. If I choose to change it to "always" or "visited" then I'll do so, but I would prefer it to start out at "never".

Thanks.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

You can set network.cookie.thirdparty.sessionOnly to true on the about:config page to make third-party cookies behave as session cookies that expire when Firefox is closed.
