Why upgrade my browser to a version that doesn't work with my extensions? Why not just wait until you make a version compatible with my extension?

more options

I depend on Norton extensions for passwords and to keep my browsing safe. When you upgraded me to Firefox 40.1 - Norton no longer worked - that's crazy. What are my options then except to stop using Firefox and use other browsers. Will I return when you finally release a version that works with Norton? No. How would I know if I'm using something else. Also, why would I if your planning is so bad, you upgrade customers and leave them stranded.

A simple fix is needed. Limit upgrades only to those customers who's extensions are compatible. Of course, you can't hold off for every little app - Norton is not a small little app - it's not only widely used, but its mission critical - I can't browse without it.

Sorry that Norton put you in the position where their Firefox add-ons aren't compatible with Firefox 41. They should have received a notification 8 or 9 months ago about Binary XPCOM add-ons not being compatible beyond the Firefox 40 version. I suspect that they didn't do any testing of what Mozilla was building thru two 6 week alpha builds and the 6 week Beta build, and ended up leaving their users "up the creek" as a result.
