Hi,

I am an old-timer and one update per one or two years is enough. Are automatic updates at last disabled in firefox 88 ? I tried about:config but it is too much complicated, I am nearly retired.

Perhaps could you deliver forefix, the nice-to-have version of firefox that don't bother with updates.

Chosen solution

You can switch to the Firefox ESR version (currently 78.10.0, next ESR will be Firefox 91) if you do not want major updates. With the ESR version you still (only) receive security updates and no new features.

I want this option too, even without update reminder.

Ok, thanks ! I am writing this from ESR. 0h30 of use without update notifications, great :-) Just had to "forget" my mozilla password to be able to get back here.

But I can't restore my IDs. From the "old" firefox I can export them to a CSV file, but ESR cannot import such a CSV :-(. Perhaps the old Mozbackup is still there ? And I don't want Sync (does it need web storage ?).

Note that ESR receives updates just in sync with release, but that includes fixing security vulnerabilities like from 78.9.0 to 78.10.0 when release updated from 87.0 to 88.0. Only if severe security issues are disclosed in the current release that affect ESR as well, ESR get a minor update that would be a 78.10.x version for the current release and you should accept ESR updates to stay safe.
