Thunderbird does not put files in the Trash or Spam Folder
I downloaded Thunderbird with IMAP and while the Trash folder with all my old trash emails downloaded. It no longer puts files I delete an any folder much less the one that downloaded. Also, I have no Spam folder either. If I click on an email that it is junk, I just get a statement saying Thunderbird views this as Junk and has an option to make it Not Junk, nothing else. It just stays. When I delete it, it just disappears as do all the files I delete. I don't know where they go?

Thunderbird does not create or use a Spam folder. If your provider does go to File-Subscribe and subscribe to it.
Thunderbird Junk Controls have nothing to do with your providers Spam filtering or folder. The default action for marking a message as Junk in Thunderbird is to place a Junk icon beside it and leave it in your Inbox. You would need to change the options in junk controls to create a junk folder and move them there. Junk and spam are two different things as far as Thunderbird is concerned.

Now I am having so many problems with Thunderbird. I'm not getting my emails to come. Also, when I open an email, it will be with the heading I am looking at but another email message is in the body. It has been very unreliable lately. Not really sure what is going on?
Your second post makes it sound like there is indeed something seriously awry with your Thunderbird setup. Perhaps since you're just getting started with Thunderbird, it wouldn't be outrageously time-consuming to first try uninstalling it, restarting your computer, then installing it again fresh once it's completed the reboot? If that doesn't correct these issues, please include as much detail as you can about your system and the version of Thunderbird you're working with, either manually or by going to the Help|Troubleshooting Information menu item and using the Copy To Clipboard button to paste it into your reply here. Thanks, and good luck.
I just shut my computer down completely and restarted it from scratch (not just a reboot) and that got my recent emails to download as well as I now see the most recent files I put in the Trash Folder so that is good. I still don't know why there is no Junk folder. Still having that problem. No Junk File and no way to send a message to junk or Spam...When I click on the Junk button regarding a particular email that I want to label as Junk, just a message comes up that says: Thunderbird thinks this is a Junk email and only give me two choices to click on. A Learn More button and Not Junk button. learn more just says you have to train Thunderbird, yada yada. Do you know how I can get a Junk Folder to appear so I can have Junk Emails go in there?
