OK, I have visited unmentionable sites (porn). I don't want them to pop up whenever I enter w....in the new tab space at startup or any other time. This happened today -- I brought my personal laptop to the IT department at work to fix a wifi connectivity issue. He opened a new tab and clicked 'www' or even just 'w' and it brought up about 1/2 a dozen sites I'd visited recently, including this unwanted one. So there it is still and I have no idea how to delete it. I am not talking about my History, which I know how to delete certain sites from. (I am using a MacBook Pro). Thanks.

Did you try to remove these entries in the drop-down list via the usual way (hover and press Shift+Delete)?

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

Can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
