Firefox seems to be remembering my username and password for a web site that I don't want it to. When I go to Firefox Help, it seems that the "Advanced" tab is where I should look, but I can't see where I get to the Advanced tab.

  • 3-bar menu button --> Options -> Security -> Exceptions

Add the site you don't want logins to be saved from and voilà.
