Good afternoon,

Does someone knows why emails open by themself? This is very irritating. I don't use a reading pane so this can't be the reason. We use Thunderbird at work so we receive daily 200 to 300 mails. Often mails open by themself so this way a lot of mails are already marked as read and I miss a lot of mails because of this. Is there a way to stop this?

Thank you for your help.

Do you mean that messages appear marked as read before you open them? This can happen if an IMAP account is accessed on other devices, so a message read on one device is marked as read on other devices that access the same IMAP account.

Hi, no I mean it really opens the mail. Sometimes I have 10 mails opened when I never opened them. So a separate pop up of the mail appears. When I delete or classify a mail, it goes to the next mail and opens it by itself. But I don't always see it as we receive so many mails everyday so if 10 mails are opened I don't look at the mail if it is a mail I already treaded. Very frustrating. In the beginning it wasn't everyday but now it is constantly. I never work on another device as I only use Thunderbird for work.

Is it possible that when you select a message with a single click, your mouse reacts as if it was a double click, and opens the message? If that's the case, what happens if you avoid using the mouse, and just select a message with the up or down key, then press Enter to open it? Most reports of this type end up being due to faulty hardware.
