Using Ebay a lot, I set up my search page and search. When I press "go back one page" it used to go back to search page, set up as I wanted it. Now it goes back to the search page in the state before I set my preferences, which means setting it all up again. This is frustrating and time consuming. I have been to "Options" then "Privacy", and the "Remember History" is always active, even when I change it to "Use Custom Settings for History" and click "OK". It refuses to change, even after reboot, and reset. What can I do to fix this problem?

Does the following article help?

The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.

Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.

If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".

You can consider to open the link(s) in a new tab (i.e. middle-click a link or hold down Ctrl and left-click).
Then you can close this tab with a middle-click to return to the tab with the search results.

I have the same problem.

And its making facebook and playing farmville a very slow process because the program wipes out all my game play information.

I mean, if this keeps up I will have to go to IE11.. And I might as well pull the Frigging plug on this thing if that happens..
