See:

  • A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (Site Identification icon) on the left side of the location bar.
  • A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
  • Open the Media tab of the "Page Info" window.
  • Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Firstly, thank you cor-el.

When I open the Page Info window I don't get a Media tab. I get a Permissions tab - when I open that I get a scrollable list - but it looks like that's not the scrollable list you're referring to. The first item on the list is "Load images". That has a "Use default" box which is unticked and an "Allow" circle which is selected.

I've tried fiddling with the other options in the permissions window -but with no success.

I wonder if this suggests anything else I can try?

You need to switch to the Media tab in "Tools > Page Info" to see the list that I mentioned.
If you do not get the Media tab then make sure that you load images.

Tools > Options > Content : [X] Load images automatically

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

>In Firefox 4 Safe mode also disables plugins (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and hardware acceleration (Tools > Options > Advanced > General)

Thanks again but

Tools > Options > Content : [X] Load images automatically is ticked, and no difference in Safe Mode.

Do you see the Media tab in Tools > Page Info?

If you do then you need to check if images are blocked by checking image links that are grayed or have a check mark in the "Block Images from" check box.

Thanks cor-el.

No media tab.

Have to go for a while. On return I will go through the advice in Images or animations do not show.

As you're so helpful, could I ask u to view

http://www.chronicpainaustralia.org/

and see if it displays correctly for you?

PS it displays correctly for me in IE.

Yes, I displays correctly for me.

All the images on that page are background images, so you can check these:

Been through "Images and animations..." and ◦http://kb.mozillazine.org/Website_colors_are_wrong . ◦Website colors are wrong . Turned Trend Micro Virus and Spyware controls off. No success.
