When I type anything into the Location Bar or search that is not a website address, Google search would provide me with search results. Now Bing has taken over as the default search engine and I want Google back. How do I specify Google as the default search engine for Location Bar searches? (I have already removed Bing from the Search Bar list.)

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Bing “ Anything.

Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

This did not work when I type about:addons in address bar it brings up a blank page, so was not able to do anything.

There's a couple solution in this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-your-default-search-settings-firefox

The first one seems pretty valid, try it out and it'll hopefully work.

This did not work............still have the same issues

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh).

Then try again.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
