This is the message: Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at click1.news.weeklystandard.com. If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Do you use any add-ons or software that block redirects?

http://click1.news.weeklystandard.com/ redirects to

http://www.weeklystandard.com/ which redirects to

https://www.weeklystandard.com/

Dear jscher2000,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I am a low-level computer info person and don't know what an add-on is. Similarly for software that blocks re-direct. Would you give me an example of software? I have Ad Block Plus. I recently got rid of Norton which was not working with some sites and brought Windows Defender up-to-date. i am most appreciative of your help; and I am learning! Thank you, YS

Hi, Norton offers me no problems. but.....

Can you please pause or disable Ad Block Plus or add that site to a exception list in it. Been years since used that one so do not remember it . If click on the icon, should be able to pause it. Then try your site.

Your Extensions are all located from the 3 Bar Menu --> Add-ons

I suggest you use the URL that jscher2000 found : https://www.weeklystandard.com/ As Malwarebytes Security Program gave me the below warning for the URL you supplied : This website may contain clickbait. Clickbait is content whose main purpose is to attract attention and deceive visitors into clicking on a hyperlink to a particular web page. Clickbait often leads to content of questionable value.

You may want to add Malwarebytes to your Extensions/Add-ons as Windows Defender is the not the best thing at all. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/

A redirect is a response from the web server indicating that the address for the page you requested has changed to a new address. Firefox then requests the page at the new address -- normally.

Adblock Plus is an example of an extension, which is a type of add-on. However, I don't know whether it would block the redirect. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Any improvement when you try the link again?

THANK YOU, again, jscher2000, for your help. I have learned quite a bit about programs, apps, add-ons, extensions from your instructions and another Mozilla volunteer's advice. I have tried every suggestion, and can get to the site (directly, as you suggested, NOT via re-direct no matter what I have tried), but cannot sign in to my account on the site via Firefox. Chrome works. Enough hours have been spent on this; ill use Chrome. Many thanks for your time and efforts - they have been educational for me. regards, YS
