Hi, I hope someone can help. Since upgrading to FF 54, I have been having firefox offer to save passwords for websites, even after choosing 'Never Save Password' multiple times. It doesn't make a difference if I already have the password saved for that website or a I don't, but when I login, I am always asked if I want to save the password.

Under Privacy options, I am using custom settings to clear history when FF closes but I do NOT have the follow checked: cookies, active logins, site preferences or offline website data. All I have checked are: Browsing and Download History, Cache and Form & Search History.

I have not changed any settings, I simply upgraded to FF 54, the latest version.

Thanks for any help.

TRY: this work around and see if site still asks you to save password. Just stick one site in and see what happens.

Type about:preferences#security<enter> in the address bar. Under Logins press the button Exeptions, enter URL

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I didn't manually add any to that list but the the addresses I currently had in that list (2) were removed after I closed and reopened FF.

If adding them manually makes a difference, then I will try that - but obviously something is going wrong if FF will not save my preferences after exit by using the 'Never Save' option as in FF 53 and all previous versions.

I also have this same problem. I am using Firefox for Mac version 54 and when I save never and come back to the site it asks again.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep

I don't have Site Preferences checked or cookies checked and it still asks me every time.

I have the same problem after going to 53.0.3 on Windows 7 64bit. Also, site preference is not checked.

I tried this also and click on save changes. It does not save any changes, the web site I entered is not in the list when I go back and look, also still get ask to save password.
