Firefox displays all webpages as a narrow strip down the middle of my screen, whereas internet explorer uses the whole screen nicely.

I know I can adjust the way a page views each time by adjusting the zoom in and out but want the web pages to be a good size automatically, like internet explorer does.

Try using the Default Zoom Level extension, and set a default zoon level.
