Tools/Options settings work on Firefox home page but not when Firefox invokes Google search. Defaults to some Google "suggestions" autocomplete?
Have normally maintained default setting for autocomplete FireFox. Recently, (it seems to have started after last update to Mozilla) no matter what setting I have in Tools/Options, once FireFox opens the Google search interface, those settings don't work and the search defaults to Google's suggested autocomplete text in the search box. I've tried restarting Firefox (it is repeatable - FireFox acts on the settings until Google starts), rebooting, reloading, etc. Any thoughts?

Clear the Google cookies: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can set Google preferences on the Google Search settings page (link at the top right).
You can try to disable Instant Search (click the link on the Google results page).
follow directions and setting - did not sustain. First time Google search invoked default Google setting overrode Firefox settings. Next?
Are you keeping search history?
Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember search and form history"
Yes. I open the Tools/Options/Privacy tab make sure the proper boxes are checked and switch from "Use custom settings for history" to "Remember History. When I go back to the Tools/Options/Privacy tab, it has defaulted to "Use custom setting for history" and no longer invokes "form autocomplete" based on history but on Google suggested autocomplete. Each time I start FireFox, the form autocomplete works as expected - start typing and a list of previously entered search keywords appears. As soon as I get transferred out to the Google GUI this behavior stops and the Google default takes over.
