I had the same problem and after finding a solution I responded as follows I accessed my email account from my desktop or cell phone browser and changed the folder name. The only way to create a new folder was also to create a new folder on my desktop or cell phone browser.
I understand that is is possible to change a foldername in webmail or another e-mailapp, but is it also possible in Thunderbird for Android?
