On this site: https://www.orange.pl/twojekonto/zaloguj I can't force firefox to remember username (no problem with remembering password on next step). In older Firefox without WebEx there was addon which allowed to manipulate forms to prepare proper autocompletion data. This addon is not supported with WebEx anymore due to lack of proper functions. Instead Firefox Dev Team claims that mechanism built in current Firefox is enough for such tasks and mentioned addons are not needed. Seems it is wrong thinking.

I tried different approaches to save username for mentioned site but without success.

Firefox doesn't recognize this input field as being part of a login form because there is only a only an input field with type='text' and no password field present. If you right-click the input field then you can see that Firefox sees the field as a normal input field. You can possibly use a JavaScript bookmarklet to inject an hidden password field in the form to make Firefox recognize the form as a password field.

You can create a new bookmark, possibly on the Bookmarks Toolbar, and paste the JavaScript code in its URL field. You need to set focus to the input field by clicking in this field and then invoke the bookmarklet by clicking its button.

javascript:/*LOGIN:hidden-password*/
(function(){
var E=document.createElement('input');
E.hidden='true';
E.type='password';
var A=document.activeElement,X;
if((A.nodeName.toLowerCase()=='input')&&(A.getAttribute('type')=='text')){
if(X=A.parentNode.querySelector('input[type=password]')){
X.parentNode.removeChild(X);alert('pwd field: removed')
}else{A.parentNode.appendChild(E);alert('pwd-field: added')}
}else{alert('no text field selected')}
})()

(I updated the code to work as a toggle, so invoking again when the text field has focus removes the hidden password field)

Note that this has been fixed in Firefox 94 (to be released later this week) and Firefox 94 recognizes this multi-page login form properly.

You could also use the form filler to place the user name. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatically-fill-address-and-credit-cards https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-whether-firefox-automatically-fills-forms

I tried it before in version 91.0.2 but it didn't work - probably it was again focused on exact forms, not any forms.

I used this advice, and it worked for orange.pl website. I didn't even have to enter entries once again, they were filled correctly just after FF update. But it still doesn't work for some websites like this one: https://secureidentity.schneider-electric.com/idp/login so i will probably try method with javascript in bookmark. EDIT: method worked although i need to do this with each login.

Both advices from cor-el worked but I can select only one ...

Note that on some websites usernameOnlyForm.enabled = true can cause issues if you have a login saved, Firefox might auto-fill or offer to fill the username on the website.

I have the opposite problem. User name is getting filled in, but password isn't on some sites. When I click on the password field, it shows me the user name and when I click on it, the password comes up. But I didn't have to do that before. Version 88.0.1
