I can't imagine the value of saving emails (File -> Save As) with file names that begin with the email subjects, which are usually arbitrary, other than for a set of emails that have the support ticket number at the beginning of their subjects. It would be best IMO if the date currently at the end was first—or if there were at least be some sort of feature to select the format for the file names.

Also, Thunderbird probably should set one of the file system's file dates (accessed, modified, created on Windows) to the time stamp on the email. Presumably it would have to be an option presented to the user since it wouldn't conform to file system standards, but it would be one simple way to alleviate a variety of needs people have, although prepending the date to the file name might be sufficient.

Since ImportExportTools NG is not supported in the latest version of Thunderbird, it is not a solution for anyone's problems. Perhaps its frequent recommendation indicates Thunderbird needs more official import/export features.

There's a beta version available for TB91. It works for me. https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues/264
