Can you tell us who is sending you emails pertaining to Sync  ? (email address of the sender)

You would only get a verification email when you create a Firefox account for Sync, which you apparantly haven't done.

Use one of these instructions to get to the sync controller and shut it off. Type about:accounts<enter> in the address bar. [57+] https://accounts.firefox.com/settings
