hi graphicz, a ram usage of 130mb is low to normal and won't cause any slow downs. a constant cpu usage isn't normal on the other hand - i think, i have seen another trend micro user with this issue recently, so please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions panel, try to disable the "Trend Micro BEP" entry and see if firefox is still slow after a restart then...

Tanks Phil I have disabled Trend Micro BEP and in fact the ONLY addon I now have is FireBug. Still get a whirring fan and cpu usage towards 20% and 260MB memory as before. See image. I am replying in Edge so cannot add the troubleshooting so it is attached as a pdf

The drivers seemed to have been the problem and it appears now to be fixed. Strange as they are both relatively new PCs with new AMD (not just the built in) graphics cards which were installed with all the driver software that came with them!

Have you got only 1Gb of RAM on these relatively new PCs ? That is not much by current standards, especially as your video graphics will probably take some of that. Admittedly Firefox optimistically suggests it only needs 1/2 GB

Whereas Windows 10 is saying 1GB if it is an upgrade but 2GB on a new machine. I do not think I would upgrade to Windows 10 if I only had 1GB.

Dunno where you got that from! The 300Mb is the CPU memory that FF is using, the percentage is CPU usage as stated perviously.

I think I have 16 Gigs on each machine - I've lost count

Well no actually. Even with the legacy drivers and acceleration and 3d disabled and still cpu fan whirring and FF usage up to 18+%
