Which view sorting is currently selected in the Library?
You can click on the header bar to sort by that column (a second click reverses A-Z <> Z-A)
This is no solution to my question
Bookmarks: When you sort a column in the Library (Bookmarks Organizer) dialog, that is just for purposes of working with the list in that dialog. Do you want to sort the Bookmarks menu? In that case see Sort your bookmarks to quickly find the ones you want.
Unfortunately, the Library dialog does not show the current bookmark folder location in search results. Maybe they will add that some day.
History: I don't understand what you want to do with history.
The instruction you gave was complicated. It is much easier to just press the the header bar. No need to hold down Ctr and then Sort by name ! Why this kind of complication?
The history listing ; I want to start with A to Z but I can only start with t and then comes lots of www and then p and then ww again etc; this makes it difficult to find what I am looking for
Not showing the folder location is annoying since I often want to rearrange my bookmarks in different folders

After you got your search results, did you click Name (to sort by page title) or Location (to sort by url)? If you don't sort by either of those, by default the results are sorted by visit date.
Note: if the page title was blank, the url appears, which makes the sort order seem a little strange.

The article is about the Bookmarks Menu / Bookmarks Sidebar, not the Library dialog. that is why they are different.

Hstory listing: yes I know the Name heding, it should be clear from this correspondence that I am not a newbie.
Menu item Show All Bookmarks should be named Show Bookmarks Library There is no menu item for Show Bookmars in Sidebar. So how do you get the Sidebar ? I can do it but not from the menu. Having different commands for the same purpose means adding a complication. It is just like naming the same thing by different names , yet in a confusing way.

The sidebar settings are only accessible via the classic menu: View > Sidebar
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the menu bar is hidden.
Obviously, we have to finnish this nonsense. YOu are not able to admit that Firefox is a bit primitive
Hi minkowski, there is plenty of room for improvement in Firefox. If you do not have a support question, the best way to suggest feature changes is to use Help > Submit Feedback.
