The Firefox advice on mixed content (exclamation mark on lock icon in URL window) fails to tell you how to find and remove the mixed (insecure) content.
I have 'mixed content' somewhere in my Hotmail account according to Firefox. So I see an exclamation mark on the lock icon in the url bar. How do I find and remove the mixed content lurking somewhere in (an attachment in) my inbox? Firefox's suggestions only cover how to switch available security measures on and off.

There is nothing you can do at your end, these should be fixed by the developers of said webpage. If you receive HTML mails, which contain bare http references, these will cause mixed content warning. As I can see it, e.g. Gmail solves this by using a CDN to distribute the user content, instead of rendering it directly.

Note that this can be caused by images coming over an insecure HTTP link being attached to an email
You can check the Web Console for more detail about what content is blocked and about the presence. of mixed content
