I have used Firefox on this laptop for 4 years and not had any issues until the update 24. I open Firefox and it randomly freezes my laptop so I have to do a hard reboot. This is very annoying to say the least. I have turned off Hardware acceleration and done a reset and these didnt stop the freezing. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled but nothing. It still freezes my laptop in safe mode too. I have switchable graphics on my laptop and it freezes on both Intel HD and ATI HD 5740 chips. There are no HP graphic driver updates and the AMD ones are not compatible or so the site said anyway. Please help if you can as I dont want to use IE, Google etc.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Sorry, I don't have experience of using proboards. And I am assuming that you have read this article too - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-slow-how-make-it-faster#w_firefox-hangs-or-stops-responding
