Firefox 4 toolbar layout creates a disaster on Firefox

more options

From Beta 1 to RC, the toolbar layout button has always destroyed the toolbar -- adding toolbars not selected, removing nearly all of the toolbar icons. Its changes are irreversible. The only recovery is to open Firefox 3.x, rebuild the toolbar, close 3.x, and reopen 4.0. Of course, Firefox 4.0 unique toolbar items like "Feedback" are not unavailable. It would be a shame to field Firefox 4.0, if I have to keep Firefox 3.6.15 loaded just to have a recovery from 4.0 crashes -- which are very consistent whenever I hit the toolbar layout button.

Using the same Profile with Firefox 3.6.15 and Firefox 4.0 can cause all sorts of problems.

Create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

With a new profile, Firefox 4 works great -- only now I don't have all my add-on's and other customizatons. I can regenerate those though. This fixed a real problem I was having. Thanks so much
